Many Options for Body Improvements
Liposuction is one of the most commonly requested cosmetic procedures, with over 300,000 people electing liposuction in 2006. Liposuction is an option to treat areas of the body containing excess pockets of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. In women, the most common treatment areas are in the thighs, abdomen, knees, and under the arms near the breast. In men, common treatment areas are in the chest, abdomen, and midriff (love handles). Both men and women benefit from liposuction performed in the neck and chin areas.
Liposuction is also commonly referred to as lipoplasty or fat modeling. There are several types of procedures available and the best procedure is determined on the area to be sculpted and the amount of fat to be removed. Liposuction is often performed in conjunction with other procedures like facelift, or abdominoplasty since the skin around the area may become loose and baggy after the fat is removed. Remember, liposuction is not an alternative to losing weight. It is meant to eliminate those small pockets of fat you just can't seem to get rid of with any other method. If you are considering any cosmetic procedures, liposuction may be used to help Dr. Weil create the best shape possible.
