More and More Men Seeking Plastic Surgery
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, more men are electing a wide variety of cosmetic procedures to enhance their appearance. As social stigmas related to plastic surgery continue to erode, this number will continue to increase. One reason for the increase is the nature of today's job market. Many men can expect to change careers about once every ten years or so. This places more mature men in direct competition with younger men just entering the job market. In order to continue to make good first impressions on potential employers, cosmetic procedures are often employed.
Technological advances also make deciding on cosmetic surgery easier. With minimally invasive procedures like Botox injections, injectable fillers, and facial peels, men can receive a rejuvenated appearance in a half hour session. Other, more invasive measures like the weekend facelift and liposuction can help men improve their looks in a fraction of the time of traditional surgeries.
As technology advances, and the job market becomes more fluid, more men will seek out cosmetic surgeons to give them that extra edge over their competition. To find out more about your cosmetic surgery options in the Houston area, please contact Dr. Weil today to schedule an initial consultation.

Botox Parties
The FDA is warning people about the dangers of Botox parties. Since its approval in 2002 for cosmetic procedures, Botox has become the most popular cosmetic treatment in the country. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, more than 4.5 million injections of Botox were given in 2007, with a 488% increase over the year 2000 totals.
Because of its popularity, some Botox providers have taken to launching Botox parties for their patients. In a recent CBS story, they cite a proponent of Botox parties, who feels it is a way for people to get together and have a good time while they wait for their injections. In the same report, opponents of Botox parties argue that it is a marketing gimmick and that it devalues the real benefits cosmetic surgeons have to offer.
The FDA is concerned that Botox has the potential for being abused. The ASAPS [American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons] recently reported that unqualified people are dispensing Botox in salons, gyms, hotel rooms, home-based offices, and other retail venues. In such cases, people run the risks of improper technique, inappropriate dosages, and unsanitary conditions.
It is important to find a qualified provider and schedule a face-to-face consultation if you are interested in Botox. The parties may be fun, but you could be shortchanging yourself or subjecting yourself to unsanitary conditions administered by under-qualified personnel.
If you are looking for a qualified cosmetic surgeon in the San Francisco area to treat you properly with Botox injections, please contact Dr. Weil today to schedule a one-on-one consultation.
