What is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is a procedure used to fix the appearance of a nose that’s not quite right. In 2006, it was one of the top five most popular cosmetic surgery procedures and remains very popular today. While rhinoplasty does have its cosmetic benefits, it’s also hugely beneficial from health standpoints as well. For example, you may need a nose job in order to correct a deviated septum, which can cause breathing problems. Here at Randall B. Weil M.D. F.A.C.S in San Francisco, California, Dr. Randall B. Weil has extensive experience performing this procedure.

With all of that in mind, let’s take a more in-depth look at what’s involved with a rhinoplasty.

How does it work?

A rhinoplasty is performed as either an open or closed procedure. This simply means that, depending on the judgement of Dr. Randall B. Weil and the demands of the procedure, the incisions made to correct your nose will be made on the inside (closed) or outside (open) of the nose. In either case, however, scars will not be obvious in the slightest.

What exactly does it fix?

In addition to correcting a deviated septum, a rhinoplasty can address the purely cosmetic issues as well. If you’re not happy with the way your nose looks – it’s either too long, too short, or too wide – Dr. Randall B. Weil can make the necessary adjustments to give you the look you want.
