Many people have moles on their body, and it’s a perfectly normal occurrence. For the most part, as well, moles are harmless and don’t posit any sort of health threat. Despite that, many people want to have their moles removed, usually when they’re far too prominent or located in a position on your face or arms that you just don’t like.
Luckily, Dr. Randall B. Weil here at Randall B. Weil MD, FACS in San Francisco, California, has extensive experience in mole removal and can help you get any unsightly moles removed quickly and efficiently.
Let’s look at what that process looks like.
One of the more popular ways to remove a mole is simply to cut it right off. The cuts may sometimes require stitches, depending on whether or not the mole has enough cells below the skin surface to allow it to grow back after removal.
This is another widely-used method. Liquid nitrogen is used to literally freeze your mole right off your skin. You may end up with a small blister as a result; however, that blister will heal quickly and you’ll be back to looking great once again. This method is usually used on moles that are on your arms, so you don’t have blisters on your face.
At the end of the day, the method used will be determined between you and Dr. Randall B. Weil after consideration of the mole’s location and what procedures you’re most comfortable with.
