Cheek Lift Q & A

What is a cheek lift?

As you age, your skin naturally loses elasticity and volume, and the evidence of this is often seen on your face, around your cheeks. This loss of volume leads to sagging and drooping skin, resulting in a sunken appearance.

A cheek lift does exactly that, lifts your cheeks back up over your cheekbones, undoing the sunken look and replacing it with a more vibrant and youthful surface. It also erases the deep lines, or parentheses, that form around your nose and mouth.

What are the advantages of a cheek lift?

One of the biggest advantages of a cheek lift is that it’s not as invasive as a full facelift.

A cheek lift is also a great idea if you want a cosmetic procedure that’s short on downtime and long on results. A cheek lift shaves years off your appearance by restoring what age and gravity have taken from your skin.

What is the recovery like for a cheek lift?

Dr. Weil usually performs the cheek procedure in three hours, while you’re under IV sedation, and recovery typically takes seven to 10 days. After your surgery, you’ll likely experience some swelling and tenderness during your recovery period, which Dr. Weil addresses with:

  • Recommendations for at-home care, such as elevating your head and using cold compresses
  • Prescription or over-the-counter medication
  • Instructions to reduce your normal activities to allow your body time to heal

After your sutures are removed on or before the 10-day mark, Dr. Weil still recommends that you avoid strenuous activities, such as working out, for six weeks after your cheek lift.

Dr. Weil is always available to his patients during this recovery period, so if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to call his office.

When will I see results of the cheek lift?

It takes time for your body to heal, so you shouldn’t count on seeing results for a few weeks after the surgery. As your body recovers, the results of your cheek lift will gradually become apparent, and you should see appreciable results in six weeks.
